HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE

SHUMAS is involved in Humanitarian response to assist Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, Host and affected communities to improve their livelihood through varied interventions. Health, Communication For Development (C4D), Education, Water/ Sanitation, Nutrition, Food security and lively hood. So far, SHUMAS has achieved the following in humanitarian response ;
Health 17,797 IDPS and affected children under five treated for diarrhea, acute respiratory tract infection and malaria in the North West and South West Region 22,271 treated Mosquito nets given to IDP families 1428 pregnant women provided at least three doses of intermittent Preventive; 1,426 pregnant women received Iron / Folic Acid and Deworming medication, 8,709 children dewormed 8761 households provided 2 pack treatment of diarrhoea, acute respiratory tract infection and malaria in hard to reach areas Communication For Development Sensitized closed to 137,000 Internally Displaced Persons on Essential Family Practices and social Cohesion. Distributed 87056 Information Education and Communication materials. Created 47 community support groups in IDP host communities Education Provided scholarship to 71 poor Internally Displaced students and pupils Constructed 7 primary and secondary schools hosting IDPs Shelter Provided lodging to 221 IDPs Water Hygiene and Sanitation Provided potable water to 2 communities hosting IDPs (Ewoh and Upper Futru communities) Provide WASH kits to 322 families Sensitized 78,266IDPs in bush/forest settlement, urban and peri-urban communities on water purification. Nutrition Provided micro nutrient supplement (Vit A) to 1460 children below 5years Screen and referred 21 children diagnosed with malnutrition Livelihood Trained and supported women IDP on livestock and urban gardening
